So who, may I ask, invaded the world with their military bases: we or the Americans?

May 11 2005

America is ready to leave part of its military bases in various countries as unnecessary and do the reorganization of the existing strategic sites - which can certainly affect the balance of power in the world, given the U.S. interest in Central Asian region and the expansion of NATO . And here there is another aspect: the American military bases scattered around the world, but only Russia is perceived as an aggressor, once occupied the Baltic countries and hinders the development of democracy in the former Soviet Union.

The infrastructure of U.S. military bases and ramified covers the entire globe is not worse than the terrorist network of Osama bin Laden. U.S. bases are located on all continents, except, perhaps, only the blue - the Antarctic with its permafrost.

The existence of this empire of military colonies, according to the administration of the White House , it is vital to improve safety at a minimum throughout the world. And not only the ground: a preventive strike to "not ours" in the struggle between good and evil with God's help can cause of the cosmos and in particular the need to fire intermittently in the open space for the warning. And this is not a new story "kinootrodya George Lucas (as himself for a couple of Spielberg himself calls) - it draws on a new chapter of militarism: in 2020 the U.S. plans to establish a permanent base on the moon, and some time later to occupy Mars : Space Corps will develop spaceships.

In the meantime, the court let the case, the U.S. War Department announced that the number of troops stationed overseas, can be reduced by 70,000 soldiers who may return to the U.S. or continue to serve on other bases, of which lacks in abundance.

In this case, the Pentagon's intention to reduce the presence of U.S. troops and engage in databases that were created in the territories, primarily in Germany and South Korea during the Cold War, are not something unexpected and spontaneous. "Reorganization" of military bases - a common phenomenon. The more so by law a special commission Pentagon is regrouping and a reduction in military bases, should report to President George W. Bush in September 2005 - regulations oblige.

Bad luck is that, during the same "reorganization" of the military department proposed to establish new bases, including in Afghanistan. The fact is that a certain regularity, as Americans become less in one place, they immediately appear in another .

With this turn of events is somewhat different picture emerges: the number of bases is not declining, and increasing annually. Thus, according to a report of the Ministry of Defence, if the year 2003 belonged to the Pentagon 702 bases in more than 130 (!) States, as well as around 6000 - in the U.S., then the 2004 database was already 860. First place in the number of U.S. military facilities is Germany (306), followed by Japan (158) and South Korea (105). As stated in the official report for 2004, over 83% of the U.S. Department of Defense facilities located on U.S. territory. It should take into account that in the lists of regular reports to "get lost" tens of bases, which, as it were, and not at all. And in no way is known, and the court is not. Write off due to "strategic partnership" ...

To be continued.
