Beaches in Greece have become the standard of purity

Thus Greece ranked second among 49 countries participating in the contest. The most pristine beaches in Greece are located on the Halkidiki peninsula in the north and Dodekanezskom archipelago in the Aegean Sea. The criteria for a "blue flag" is: no cases of discharge of polluted water to the beach, to prevent accumulation and decay of algae protection typical of this area of fauna and flora, warning people about the project "blue box", the implementation of environmental education of the population, establishment of the Centre for Environmental Studies, the presence on the beach, a sufficient number of garbage cans, showers and toilets, daily cleaning of the site, ensuring the safe transportation and organization of measures to prevent possible incidents.

To assess the compliance areas with high European standards, a team of representatives of many organizations: the Commission on technical equipment, environmental protection, the national team committee of management of ports, ENEA (National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Environment) and others.
