Swimmer Ian Thorpe goes

A decision on his retirement took the famous Australian swimmer Ian Thorpe. In Sydney on Tuesday held a press conference at which the athlete said that he had taken such a decision, "because swimming is no longer a sense of his life."

In next year's world championships in Melbourne, he decided not to participate. Thus, he retired from the professional swimmer at age 24.

Thorpe did not speak at major international competitions with the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, where he won two gold medals. Since then, the Australian experienced health problems and problems with motivation.

In the history of Ian is one of the most successful swimmers. Among other things, he first became world champion at age 15, and fixed 21 world record.

Australian in Athens won gold medals in the 200 and 400 meter freestyle. Then he decided to take time out for a year, saying that "morally exhausted".
