Mutations in human become ordered
At the last conference in Melbourne, researchers project on variability of the human genome have concluded the need to create a database of all human gene mutations.
Now science knows about a hundred thousand different gene mutations, however, according to experts, it is only 5% of all possible variations of this kind.
As noted by Richard Cotton, Director of the Center of genomic disorders, some of the known genetic mutations have already been made in the database, but so far there is no global systematic way of collecting and disseminating this information among researchers around the world.
"Mutations that lead to disease, should be adequately described and documented, and is the primary objective of the project" - said Cotton.
As reported by the scientist and his colleagues at the initial stage of work will include studies of violations of individual genes. At this stage, the project cataloged 5-6 thousands of such violations, and the researchers hope to increase this amount to 23 thousand.
Scientists will have to face and with a number of neissledovatelskih problems, such as the provision of patent remedies. Another difficulty is that over the next five years to meet the objectives will require $ 60 million, and it is not clear how will such funds.
