At Harvard, cloned human

The experiment determined the creation of the world's first cloned human embryonic stem cells initiated by scientists from Harvard University.

The purpose of research - very therapeutic - to find ways to treat a number of dangerous diseases, including childhood diabetes, and various genetic disorders in the blood of Parkinson's disease and virtually incurable Lou Gehrig's disease, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The main task - to get as a result of cloning of cells with such a set of DNA, that would be compatible with the organism of the individual patient.

Harvard Project for two years passed examination in eight university committees, including ethics, since the question of the moral component of human cloning in the United States has not been resolved. In 2001, President George W. Bush has banned the governmental entities to fund any research in which results can be created stem cells of human embryos.

Harvard University is holding its experiment with private funds. As acknowledged by the task manager to work with donors Douglas Melton, the study will cost several million dollars, reports AP .
