Scientists have proven: useful for arthritis alcohol. Rated, and smoking
Scandinavian researchers have found that alcohol, like tobacco, influences the development of rheumatoid arthritis in humans. At the same time, spirits and cigarettes are the opposite way: vodka reduces the risk of disease, and tobacco - increases. Scientists have also made an important warning.
Speaking about the influence of alcohol, the doctors can not yet explain the mechanism of its protective effect and do not give advice on the use of alcoholic beverages. The study suggests that alcohol may reduce the risk of inflammation, as in the case of its effects on the cardiovascular system.
In total, over 2,750 physicians involved people of different age and sex, randomly selected from different localities. Participants are asked about their habits and lifestyles, including those about smoking and alcohol consumption. To assess the genetic risk factors were taken blood samples in which antibodies to proteins involved in the development of arthritis.
The study found that regular consumption of alcohol may reduce the risk of arthritis by 50%, with the greatest reduction in risk was observed in the group with the highest levels of alcohol consumption. This effect was observed equally in men and women. Alcohol reduces the risk of disease in those surveyed who constantly smoke and have a genetic predisposition to the disease arthritis, wrote Cnews.
