Twins more likely to suffer from anorexia

Scientists found out that twin boys suffer from anorexia often than girls. It turns out that the conditions in which the fetus is before birth, have a significant impact on the development of eating disorders.

Women suffer from anorexia are ten times more often than men, estimated Dr. Procopio and Dr. Paul Marrayote from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Only here the reasons for this are unclear.

In their study, researchers used the materials of their Swedish colleagues, who studied several hundred medical records of twins born between 1935 and 1958. The aim was to determine whether sex hormones cause the development of anorexia. Based on these studies has been put forward the hypothesis that twin boys, developing together with his sister, often suffer from anorexia, receiving a considerable dose of female hormones, while in the womb.
