Hindu married on the mountain, which it protects

A resident of the Indian state of Jharkhand in eastern India married a hill in the hope of her protection against the Maoist rebels operating in the region.

"Once in my dream was the goddess of the mountain and asked me to marry her, so as to help stop rampant Maoist rebels and bring peace to the country," - said the 30-year-old Nandi Munda, a resident of the village Bomar, 170 km from state capital Ranchi .

Munda, who already has a wife and two children, came to the "bride" in a traditional wedding dress, accompanied by hundreds of "friends of the groom." The wedding ceremony took place under the leadership of the local priest. Menu festive table included lamb and rice.

After the wedding the villagers are suffering from the terror of the militants have gained confidence in their forces and formed a fighting unit to protect against the Maoists.

Marriage Rights and terrain in this state is not the first time. Two years ago, a young man got married here on the hill, hoping to heal his ailing mother.

In Jharkhand the rebellion reached 18 out of 24 administrative districts. Over the past seven years at the hands of the Maoists are killing about a thousand people, including 645 civilians.
