Rebels send hostages Red Cross

The operation to transfer the three hostages, who has long been in the hands of the rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), started on Saturday in the jungle near the Colombian city of Villavicencio in the central part of the country.

It involved three helicopters, which are specially arrived in Colombia from Venezuela.

Hostages should be handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), but the exact time of transmission is still unknown.

Earlier in the mediation mission of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's FARC rebels agreed to hand over to an ICRC Clara Rojas - an assistant of ex-Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt, infant son Rojas - Emmanuel, born in captivity, and Consuelo Gonzalez MP.
