Shiveluch in Kamchatka huffed

Powerful gas-ash explosions occurred from the crater of a volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula Shiveluch, told RIA Novosti the Kamchatka Branch of Geophysical Service RAS. "Release at the height of about five kilometers, accompanied by shedding debris avalanche experts observed Klyuchevskoy vulkanostantsii, located 30 kilometers from Shiveluch" - a spokesman said.

Observations of the volcano are difficult because of adverse weather conditions, however, seismic data show that less than a day powerful ash emissions from the crater of a giant place several times. In the area of active dome Shiveluch seismologists recorded 500 local earthquakes and continuous spasmodic volcanic tremor.

Shiveluch, whose height is about 3,3 thousand meters, intensified in December 2006. Above its crater, periodic raises powerful pillars of gas and ash to a height of five to eight kilometers. Active dome Shiveluch, according to scientists in the last two or three years has considerably changed its shape: the slopes become unusual for the volcano slope, and the volume of the dome increased by about half.

For settlements Peninsula Volcano represents no danger. Clouds and plumes of ash, stretching hundreds of kilometers, can pose a threat to aviation security. Volcanic ash also can cause poisoning in humans and animals.
