In the Himalayas, the Russian climbers missing

At least one climber was killed and more than 100 people, among them four Russian citizens who disappeared in a mountainous area of the Himalayas in northern India.

Cause of the incident became a heavy snowfall. The nationality of the victim was not specified.

"We lost contact with over 100 climbers, tourists and their guides, as well as local guides and porters after a heavy snowfall," - told reporters a representative of state government Uttarakand. It is noted that in addition to Russian tourists among the missing are citizens of Australia and Germany.

Snowfall in the area where the missing people continued for more than 36 hours, and forecasters predict that this weather will continue through at least the end of the weekend.

All in all the mountains disappeared four groups of tourists, which in effect consists of four Russians, seven Germans and one Australian. Tourists were accompanied by about 60 guides and porters-Indians.

Incidents with Russian climbers abroad is not so rare. So, in August 2006. in Pakistan killed a group of four athletes from Russia, caught in an avalanche on Mount Chogori (also known as K2). Chogori is the second largest in the world of mountain peaks. Height Chogori - 8 thousand 611 meters, ascent of this summit is considered one of the toughest in the world.
