Russia and Azerbaijan agreed on elektroobmene

Russia's Inter RAO UES and the Azerbaijani Energy Minister Azerenerji up to two days of talks signed an agreement on mutual supplies of electricity for the current year.

As reported on Monday, spokesman Azerenerji, the agreement requires the introduction of a single fare for both parties, whose value will vary depending on time of electricity supply - by day, night and during peak hours. The source noted that the size of the tariff is a commercial secret.

Former agreement on energy exchange between the energy systems of Russia and Azerbaijan in 2007 was signed in January last year. Under the agreement, for the year Azerenerji received from Russia about the same amount of electricity as in 2006 - 700 million kWh costs 3.636 cents per kWh, while the price for export to Russia, Azerbaijan electricity has risen from 1 , 58 cents per kWh in 2006 to 1.8 cents in 2007.

The agreement stipulated that these tariffs will be valid only in the first quarter of 2007, and then may be extended upon mutual agreement.

Energy exchange between Russia and Azerbaijan are carried by transmission lines Jasper - Derbent. Its nominal capacity of 300 MW can importitrovat in Azerbaijan up to one billion kWh of electricity.

Russian electricity supplied to Azerbaijan, mainly in peak hours in the volume of 200-250 MW per day, ITAR-TASS.
