Protester Saddam Hussein was rushed to hospital

July 24 2006

On the eve of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein felt a sharp deterioration of health and was hospitalized in one of Baghdad hospitals.

"We moved him to the hospital and is now feeding through a tube" - said Jaafar al-Moussawi, the chief prosecutor at the trial. The prosecutor declined to name the hospital, which is the former president, reports AP.

Apparently, the reason for admission was a hunger strike, which he and three other defendants announced earlier this month. This measure was taken by them as a protest against the killing of one of Hussein's lawyers.
