Greeks and Turks have finally come together

Greek and Turkish communities of Cyprus today will begin the final dismantling of the wall in the capital's Ledra Street, which separates the territory of their residence on the island.

If all goes according to plan, the street will be opened on March 31, or possibly 2 or 3 April, said the mayor of the southern part of Nicosia, Eleni Mavrou.

The central tourist and shopping street in Nicosia Ledra is one of the tragic character of the divided since 1974 after the invasion of Turkish troops of the island. At the moment it crosses the so-called green line of the ceasefire - UN buffer zone that separates the territory of residence of the two Cypriot communities, ITAR-TASS.
