Brazil priest carried away by balloons

The priest Adelir de Carli, trying to break the record, went missing off the southern coast of Brazil. Reverend Adelir de Carli with thousands of inflated helium balloons launched in the port city of Paranagua on Sunday afternoon. In the flight he took with him a parachute, protective termokostyum, satellite phone and navigator, reports the BBC.

However, late Sunday night by representatives of port authorities lost contact with him, both on land and sea search began for a priest. The previous record flight on a bunch of balloons is 19 hours. In Adelira de Carli, who is an experienced skydiver, also had with him floating chair.

De Carli rose to a height of 6 thousand meters, then dropped to 2, 5 thousand meters - the level at which he planned to fly to the city Duradosa. But he drifted in the wind direction, and the last time a communication session, he reported that it had drifted a few miles from the coast. Before the connection was gone, the priest said that he would have to sit on the sea, because he was "losing height".

Air Force planes and helicopters, as well as Brazilian Navy ships are searching the priest off the coast of Santa Catarina, where the beach was found bits of balloons.
