In Sweden, nurses' strike

In Sweden, about 2 thousand nurses began at noon Monday strike for higher minimum wage to € 2,3 thousand a month and a pay rise from next year to € 170.

According to the Swedish trade union health workers in a strike were to take part 3,5 thousand nurses, hospitals and offices of the ambulance. However, before the action employers of some of the provincial health facilities have applied to the Arbitration Commission, believing that the strike could have negative consequences for public health.

Commission meeting with representatives of conflicting parties is scheduled for today, but consideration could take several days. Therefore, according to the union in a strike is not able to attend about one thousand nurses.

The outbreak of the strike will affect many patients. Only six hospitals in Stockholm daily carried about 230 scheduled operations.

Last Swedish nurses strike in 1995. Their campaign will last seven weeks, according to RIA Novosti.
