Published the first Red Data Book of Kamchatka

Printed the initial copies (1 thousand copies) of the first Red Data Book of Kamchatka. As told in the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Kamchatka region, the need for publication of this encyclopedia was caused by the fact that the peninsula is much higher than some European countries not only in size but also on biological diversity and a high degree of saturation of rare and endemic species, according to Regnum.

Preparation of materials of the Red Book of Kamchatka performed Kamchatka branch of the Pacific Institute of Geography, RAS. In the work involved more than 70 scientists and researchers of various scientific organizations and institutions of the Kamchatka region. For each of the sections of the book received reviews of specialists from leading scientific organizations in Russia.

The first volume of the Red Book of Kamchatka including 125 species of animals, fish, birds and mammals and 11 species of algae. "Of all the 11 species of algae and 44 animal species are already included in the Red Book of Russia, and ten species are included in the Annex to the Red Book of Russia.

In the "Plants" includes 122 species of angiosperms, 25 lichens, 34 species of liverworts, 23 species of mosses, 13 species of ferns and 11 species of marine algae, as well as one species of gymnosperms and plaunoobraznyh. And in an annex to the Red Book of Kamchatka included 101 species of angiosperms, 17 species of lichens, 23 species of liverworts and 45 species of moss, "- the ministry said.
