September 20 2007

In Atlanta, was sentenced to 35 years in prison and a fine of 20,500 dollars 46-year-old anesthesiologist Gregory Kapordelis convicted of manufacturing, receiving and possessing child pornography.

The first charge he presented to the molestation of boys in St Petersburg, on which he was originally arrested. But those charges at trial did not appear. Kapordelisa arrested at New York Airport. Kennnedi in April 2004. Federal prosecutor William Duffy accused him that he travels to Russia to engage in sex tourism and seduce boys who Kapordelis picked up on the streets of St. Petersburg and relegated to his hotel. As was clear from documents that are presented to the court protection, a Russian private detective hired by his lawyer, allegedly discovered that fabricate a case against a police Kapordelisa helped Andrew Tine, the suspect in the molestation.

As stated by Judge Tine, he told the boys, who then gave testimony on Kapordelisa that he works in a clinic dealing with organ transplants, "he has fathered six Russian children and brought them to the U.S., where they removed the bodies and then killed" .

U.S. prosecutors found those arguments unconvincing, and the end was sure that he is dealing with the abusers, but ultimately withdrew the charges of indecent assault against minors and judged Kapordelisa only for child pornography. While the most sensational charges have fallen, child pornography, Kapordelisa withdrawn from the search, he still faced up to 115 years in prison.

At the trial, which ended in May condemned the anesthesiologist, Attorney Aaron Danzig presented the jury learned from the computer file of the accused with images of boys having sex. Defense countered that the file could unload their internet is one of the many guests of the accused, but failed to win over the jury at his side.

Sentencing was scheduled for that week. The prosecutor said he hoped the judge would take into account the St. Petersburg adventures Kapordelisa and increase his term. "The accused repeatedly corrupt boys, stupefy them and committed indecent acts," - said Danzig, who asked for Kaprodelisu 90 years' imprisonment.

Protection stated in response that the allegations did not appear at the trial that Kapordelis convicted of another and therefore add to it a term for unproven crimes in Russia will be unfair. The judge agreed with this argument and did not take into account the estimated Kapordelisa adventures in Russia, reports BBC.
