52-year-old Chantal Sebir, suffering from an incurable disease and asked the French authorities permission for euthanasia, was found dead at his home, according to Interior Ministry of France.

Other details are not yet known.

Sebir appealed to the French justice to allow her doctor to carry out euthanasia on Monday but was refused. She also personally requested euthanasia President Nicolas Sarkozy, but he only offered to hold an expanded council of physicians, to alleviate the suffering of the patient.

For eight years, former teacher and mother of three children suffered from Chantal Sebir nevroblastomy - progressive respiratory tract tumors. This rare and incurable disease (in the last 20 years the world has been recorded only 200 cases of this disease) led to blindness, severe strain on her face and brought a patient, she said, "unbearable suffering". Sebir acknowledged that "reached a peak that could not bear."

Case Sebir caused a great resonance in France, and resumed the debate on the resolution of euthanasia. The Catholic Church refers to the voluntary withdrawal from life categorically negative.

In recent days, rumors appeared in the press that Sebir decided to go to Switzerland to end his life there. Euthanasia is currently legal in Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

On it informs RIA Novosti news agency .
