The Court does not allow the Italian couples name their child Friday and decided to give a child a traditional name - Gregory. The kid was born in Genoa 15 months ago. The parents registered him at City Hall under the name of "Friday", moreover, the priest and gave him the baptismal name of the hero of the famous book of Daniel Dafoe "Robinson Crusoe". "We named him Friday (Venerdi), because we like the sound of that name," - mother of the baby Mara Germano. She added that even if she was born a girl, they still would have given it the name of "Friday".
However, when a little Friday was five months, the employee mayor drew the attention of authorities for the unusual name of one of the townspeople.
It turned out that there is a law forbidding parents to provide "ridiculous and shameful" names of the children. The Court explained that such a law is intended to ensure that in the future to protect children from the attacks of his comrades and ridicule. Unusual name, according to the authorities, could interfere with the child to establish normal human relationships with others. In addition, in Italy, Friday is considered unlucky day of the week.
When parents learned that they should change the name of the son, they refused to do so. Then the officials made it themselves and chose the name Gregory - the very day of this saint was born a little Friday.
