Moscow handed out awards "5768 Man of the Year"

Creator of the cartoon "Hedgehog in the Fog" Yuri Norstein awarded the Federation of Jewish general of Russia "5768 Man of the Year" (according to Jewish reckoning).

The award is also given to artistic director of Moscow's theater, film director and actor Armen Dzhigarhanyanu, the governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko and seven other prominent people.

The ceremony was held at the State Kremlin Palace tonight, and started with a minute of silence in memory of those killed in a car crash at Eilat.

"The award winners - people that we know of their good works. These are the people who matter have shown that the beauty of human life - is primarily thinking of others, not only for themselves," - said the awards ceremony, the Chief Rabbi Russia, Berl Lazar.

According to him, "the ultimate goal of life - help your neighbor, serve others, improves the lives of others, to add light to this world," wrote Pravda.ru.

"Every one of those sitting in this room became a man, for someone. Often we do not understand how important it is for our family, our help and support, even just a kind word" - said the rabbi.

Multiplier Yuri Norstein awarded in the category "man - the legend" for his outstanding contribution to the development of animation art.

Armen Dzhigarkhanjan - in the category "Theatre." Award received for Dzhigarkhanyan director performance on the novel by Isaac Singer's "Late Love" Yuri Klepikov.

About Valentina Matvienko, the award in the category of "regional leader", it was said that "a woman throughout her work shows a dedication to the people it serves - the Russian people, all nationalities."
