Solemnly closed the UN General Assembly
At the UN on Monday, closing ceremony took place 61-th session of the UN. "Without a doubt, when we're together - we become stronger when we promote our common goals consciously and consistently - General Assembly of bringing real change and achievement around the world," - said in closing remarks, General Assembly President Haya Rashed Khalifa. A citizen of Bahrain, it was the first in UN history a woman from the Islamic world, who chaired the General Assembly.
The current UN General Assembly in the history of nations has left its mark on the adoption of conventions on the rights of disabled persons and forced disappearances, the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, work on which was more than 20 years, reports RIA Novosti.
