The largest "pearl" show in Holland

One of the largest pearls in the world - "Maximus" will be exhibited at the Museum "Naturalis" in the Dutch city of Leiden on 19 December to 4 January.

"Pearl" weighing 119.25 grams are not round like most of his "companions", and has an irregular shape. Giant pearl height 71 mm is on the pedestal of gold, decorated with lacquer and precious stones.

Color of pearls varies from creamy white to gold with pearls distinguishes a soft sheen. Previously, it exhibited for public review only once wrote Pravda.ru.

Presumably, the "Maxim" for hundreds of years in the Netherlands it is almost half a century. The first known owner of the Pearl was a Polish ship owner, Alexander Plonsk of Gdansk.

In 1865 he sold it to the King of Italy Victor Emmanuel, II. Around 1868 the pearl jeweler bought in Amsterdam Willem van Kooten. The current owner of the Maxima, whose name was not reported to have purchased it from the heirs of Van Kootena.
