The world remembers the victims of war in South Ossetia

Kaddish for the dead in South Ossetia as a result of military aggression of Georgia will be held on Tuesday at the Orthodox Cathedral in New York.

"On the fortieth day of the tragic events in the Caucasus, His Grace Bishop Mercurius of Zaraisk, Vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, headed by a solemn requiem service in memory of the dead," - said in an address to his flock.

Memorial service held at St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York, which invited all who wanted to share grief for the dead and take part in a memorial prayer for their repose.

Georgian troops on the night of August 8, invaded South Ossetia and shelled the capital of the breakaway republic - the city of Tskhinvali, after which the Russian army entered the military conflict. Victims of armed conflict, according to Foreign Ministry, were about 1,6 thousand inhabitants of the republic. In Russia, August 13 was declared a day of mourning for the dead, North and South Ossetia mourning lasted for three days, according to RIA News .
