In London today at an international auction Bonhams exposed strand of the last, the sixth wife of King Henry VIII - Catherine Parr.
31-year-old Catherine Parr married already seriously sick of Henry VIII. For her it was his third marriage, and the king married for the sixth time. In addition, two of the five former husband had been executed on his orders.
Four years after her marriage to Catherine Henry died. She herself died in childbirth in the next, in 1548.
In 1782, the forgotten grave of Catherine Parr, was discovered in the castle chapel Sunday. After 234 years after the death of the queen her coffin was opened. Eyewitnesses testified to the extraordinary preservation of the body, the skin Katherine did not lose its natural color.
It was then that the queen had been cut off a curl, which went on sale.
