One study, conducted in cooperation with the Vienna Institute of SORA after the elections to local authorities in October 2005 showed that participated in the voting 59 percent of youth aged 16-18 years.

In other age groups the percentage voting was the same, said one of the directors of the Institute Christoph Hofinger. In his view, lowering the age limit to 16 or even 14 years can balance the views of young and older generations: it increasingly aging population - a common phenomenon across Europe, Deutsche Welle.
