In Ukraine is preparing a referendum on Russian language

At noon today in Kiev will begin a campaign for a nationwide referendum on the status of Russian language. Collecting signatures is the Party of Regions of Ukraine, headed by himself the current Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych. The ballot is expected to ask the citizens of the three questions, including one - of a military nature.

Ukrainians are invited to answer: 1) whether they agree that the state language in Ukraine were Ukrainian and Russian languages, and 2) whether they agree that the heads of district and provincial governors were elected by the citizens of Ukraine, 3) whether they agreed that Ukraine was a state which does not participate in military blocs.

Commenting on this initiative, President Viktor Yushchenko said that "politicians and political forces that today, during the holding of early parliamentary elections, trying to hold a referendum of this nature take care of destabilization in the country."
