Russians prefer beer, vodka

Russians in 2007, less drinking vodka and other liquors, but more beer.

According to the National Alcohol Association (NAA), the consumption of vodka and liquors in Russia amounted to 191.4 million dal (dal) against 212.1 million made in 2006. The share of vodka in the total consumption amounted to 51,1% (56,2% in 2006).

At the same time, beer consumption increased from 971.8 million given in 2006 to 1,071,400,000 gave last year. The share of beer in total alcohol consumption increased from 32.2% to 35.7%, respectively.

According to the NAA also increased the consumption of grape and sparkling wines, brandy. For example, last year Russians drank 8.8 million given brandy and cognac drinks vs. 7.7 million made in 2006, 72.5 million made wines against 61.8 million and 24.1 million gave gave sparkling wines against 21.2 million dal.
