Chilean doctors from the hospital, Sotero del Rio held a six-month operation to separate Siamese twins. The intervention, lasting 16 hours, was successful, according to Radio Cooperativa. The boys, whose names are not reported at the request of parents, were joined in the chest and abdomen. The twins had fusion in the pericardium, liver, and the total area of the intestine.

The operation to separate Siamese twins was carried out in the night from Saturday to Sunday. "Everything went well, as planned," - said the hospital director Fernando Betanso (Fernando Betanzo). Nevertheless, soon after surgery in both boys will develop complications. One of them developed heart failure and pulmonary edema, the second - with kidney problems, said Betanso. According to him, the doctors were able to cope with complications, and now the state of the twins is regarded by them as stable.

Currently, the boys are connected to a ventilator and under the supervision of specialists in the ICU. Despite the fact that the first problem was solved, doctors fear the development of postoperative complications, in particular the accession of infections reported Betanso. Reports Newsinfo.
