In the Leningrad region intend to compile lists of people who have not come to the polls and did not participate in the presidential election on March 2. The list will be compiled to determine reasons for low turnout. , Told the governor of Leningrad region Valery Serdyukov during a briefing on the preliminary results of voting in the region.

Voter turnout in the Leningrad region is about 60%, 10% lower than the turnout for the whole country. Serdyukov decided to find out why the sites have come a little more than half of the voters. As explained by the governor, this will be done in order to understand the reason why people do not come to the polls. According to the governor, the reasons there may be several: a person can be registered, but does not live in the area, or, for example, the head of the municipal union has failed to provide transport to deliver voters to the polls.

"Municipalities should be aware of the lives of people with whom they work" - said Valery Serdyukov on this subject.

According to him, such is the practice in the Leningrad region after the State Duma elections in December 2007 but, as noted by the governor himself - "not in its entirety."
