The Spaniards crushed 100 tons of tomatoes

In the Spanish village of Buñol participants of the annual "feast of tomatoes" last Wednesday crushed 100 tons of tomatoes reported in the municipality of the village.

"This morning in the village on trucks brought 100 tons of tomatoes, which were crushed within two hours" - said the representative of the municipality Buñol Eduardo Gomez.

"By tradition, the trucks are already waiting for the crowd, which fell upon the pile unloaded onto the pavement of tomatoes, because the idea of a holiday - as soon as possible to crush them, bathe in the liquid, dip into it those who do not wish to do so voluntarily, scatter tomatoes passers-by, knock, to arrange friendly brawl, and then get rid of soiled clothes, "- said Gomez.

All this happens in the narrow streets of the village, which turn into real tomato in half-meter deep river. Then, from the balconies of neighbors poured water on the participants of the festival, so they cool off in tomato battle.

As the spokesman added the municipality, the holiday passed without incident. "After the holiday we have removed a settlement in a matter of hours - now from the tomatoes and not a trace left," - he said.

Gomez also explained that "the tomatoes delivered to Buñol, located in Valencia in eastern Spain, were procured from nearby plantations, and that in this year's festival was attended by about 40,000 people, among whom were also British, Japanese and Americans, reported Euronews.
