According to estimates, there are already more than half a million vehicles that sell tobacco products. It is planned that they will all be equipped with special reading devices.
Buy cigarettes can only holders of a smart card. Sami called taspo cards will be issued free of charge. However, this should fill the special forms, which can be received in tobacco shops.
Completed application forms together with copies of the document confirming identity, should be mailed to the supervisory authority. The first machines that would sell cigarettes only holders of a smart card, will appear in Japan as early as March 1, 2008, reports RSN.
