The UN Security Council authorized the use against pirates in Somalia's army

On the eve of a public meeting of the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution giving the States concerned to the six-month mandate to use to fight pirates in Somalia's territorial waters, ships of war.

On the official website of the UN reported that the text of a document prepared by the U.S. and France, was discussed in April 2008, but a series of recent attacks on the court greatly accelerate its adoption.

Now in the hands of modern "pirates" are just a few foreign vessels. Thus, the bandits off the coast of Somalia, the Netherlands hold the command ship Amiya Scan, which consists of nine members including the captain and three officers from Russia and five Filipino seamen. In addition, in the hands of pirates still German ship Lehmann Timber with 15 crew members on board, including 4 Ukrainian. Total this year in Somalia, pirates have been captured 26 ships, RBC reports.
