In the stampede at Indian temple killed 144 people

The death toll in a stampede that took place this morning in the temple city of Jodhpur in western India has risen to 144 people, according to local authorities.

"The death toll is 144 people," - said Minister of Internal Affairs of the State of Rajasthan, SN Thanvi (SN Thanvi). About 150 people are in hospitals, many of them seriously injured. Previously reported 113 victims.

Visit the temple, situated in the medieval fortress on the outskirts of Mehrangarh Fort, attended by more than 25,000 believers. Such a crowd of people due to the approach of the nine Navaratri festival during which Hindus pray to Goddess Durga.

According to preliminary data, the stampede began when someone slipped.
