In Moscow on Tuesday will sign a final agreement on the return of Harvard University in the capital of the ancient bells of St. Daniel's monastery.

The document will be signed at the monastery, in a meeting of the Board of Trustees for the return of the Danilov Belfry. It will be attended by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II, the presidential envoy to the Central Federal District Georgy Poltavchenko, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, the vicar of the monastery, Archimandrite Alexy, the head of the board of trustees of cultural and historical foundation "Link of Times" Viktor Vekselberg, and representatives of Harvard University.

Making the most accurate copy of the old Belfry for Harvard University has become one of the main conditions for the return of the bells at home. Bells Ensemble of St. Daniel's monastery, there are 18 bells, was formed over 200 years. The largest bell was cast in 1890 at a factory in Moscow, Finland, and weighed about 13 tons.

In the early 30-ies Danilov monastery was closed. The bells of the monastery wanted to break into pieces and melted down. In 1931 the bell tower placed on the newly constructed dormitory Lowell House, after the American industrialist Charles Crane bought the belfry from the Soviet government at the price of bronze and presented it to Harvard University.

The question of the return of the holy places in Russia was first raised at the opening of Danilov Monastery in 1983, and discussed even with U.S. President Reagan. News is reported.
