CEC dismissed Kasyanov

The CEC of the Russian Federation at a meeting on Sunday rejected former prime minister Mikhail Kasyanov to register as a candidate for president.

To participate in the elections, the leader of the Russian People's Democratic Union was to collect two million signatures in his support. However, the results of testing 600 thousand signatures, selected randomly, experts CEC rejected 13.36% at the maximum rate of "marriage" of 5%. This fact is sufficient grounds for refusal to register a candidate, according to RIA Novosti.

Recall that the collection of signatures in support of Mikhail Kasyanov, was riddled with scandals. On the facts of falsification of signatures have been prosecuted in the republic of Mari El and the Yaroslavl region. In addition, a similar occasion being tested in Bashkortostan and the Kursk region.

Meanwhile, a representative Konstantin Merzlikin Kasyanov said today the CEC that the ex-premier will most likely not appeal to the Supreme Court, in order to appeal the decision of the CEC.

After today's meeting, the CEC, the ballot papers for presidential election March 2, 2008 will be included names, Dmitry Medvedev, Gennady Zyuganov, Vladimir Zhirinovsky and Andrei Bogdanov.
