U.S. urged Britain and Russia to cooperate

In Washington, evaluated the latest developments of Russian-British relations. In response to another Moscow's refusal to extradite London Russian citizen Andrei Lugovoi, Britain announced the expulsion of four Russian diplomats.

Commenting on the situation, the Bush administration acknowledged that the decision to expel Russian diplomats from London is a problem of Russian-British relations, but urged both countries to cooperate in the murder of former FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko and the extradition of Andrei Lugovoi, whom London suspects involvement in the crime.

"This is an issue between Britain and Russia", - told reporters on Monday in Washington, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack. "We call for cooperation between Russia and Britain on this issue. We believe it is important to reveal this terrible crime - the murder of Mr Litvinenko, "-" McCormack said, adding that "the UK authorities believe that they have a strong case built on evidence and they want to send the case to court."

"Part of the transfer of the case to court is the extradition of Mr Lugovoi, and we believe it is important that within the justice on this issue has been a co-operation between Britain and Russia - said the U.S. State Department spokesman, was quoted by RIA Novosti.
