Letters of Edith Piaf's gone under the hammer for 70,000 euros

Love letters to Edith Piaf, addressed to one of her many "knights of the heart, were sold today at Christie's auction for 67,000 euro. All 54 letters written between November 1951 to September 1952, bought a Frenchman who wished to keep his name secret. The famous singer is addressed to these romantic messages champion UCI Louis Zherardanu.

Their whirlwind romance ended in 1952 when Piaf was married to French actor Jacques Pill. Even after parting she wrote Louis lines like: "My unique angel, understand, no one can compare with you, I'm ready to pull out of Marseille from your heart?" Piaf met with French world champion middleweight boxing champion Marcel Serdanom before she met Louis Zherardana. In 1949, Marcel was tragically killed in a plane crash.

In 1951, Piaf, in a car accident and a very long time recovering from her, then her life was followed by a solid black band - the endless binges and depression. During this period she wrote to her lover: "You light up my life, you always help me. I made a vow that if you come back to me, I never pritronus to alcohol."

Her song "Paris - Mediterranean," "She lived on the street Pigalle" and "My Legionnaire" sang the whole world.
