Scientists from the Institute of despondency and the Prince of Wales Hospital, which is located in Australia, conducted the first comprehensive study of the effects of chocolate on mood. The results showed that chocolate can not be used as an antidepressant, on the contrary, it can deepen the depression.

Scientists have identified two groups of chocolate lovers: the first includes the great lovers, who eat for pleasure, the second got the same "emotional eaters, who use chocolate to combat depression.

"The craving to eat chocolate for pleasure, this product, we think stimulates the dopamine in the brain and provides a pleasant feeling. But the emotional eaters, who eat chocolate to cope with boredom, stress or clinical depression, seek in it the effect of opiates used to improve mood "- explained Professor Gordon Parker.

According to him, for them chocolate at best provide temporary relief, and then the previous state, not only returned, but worse, says the magazine "membrane."
