In the Cuban capital, Havana, passed an anti-American rally, which was headed by the country's leader Fidel Castro. The protest action is practically paralyzed traffic in downtown.

The occasion served as the setting for performances at the American Embassy building a special display, which began airing on Jan. 16 quotes from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and sayings of various freedom fighters.

The Cuban leader addressed the rally with a speech in which he called the move of the U.S. authorities' gross provocation ". He added that the United States is trying to break the minimal diplomatic contacts that exist between the two countries.

In his speech, Castro also touched on the case of Luis Posada Carriles, a Cuban immigrant, who is serving prisoners in the U.S. on charges of violating immigration laws. Cuba and Venezuela consider that a former CIA informant Carriles is preparing an assassination attempt on Fidel Castro, and in 1976 was preparing a Cuban airliner bombing, which killed 73 people.

The demonstrators chanted slogans in which U.S. President George W. Bush called "fascist" and "terrorist." Near the building where there are a representation from the U.S., were installed banners that compared Bush to Adolf Hitler, reports BBC.
