Permafrost may melt by 2100

Scientists are concerned that continued global warming could lead to melting of glaciers in the permafrost and fundamentally change the ecosystem, which can be destroyed buildings and roads in Canada, Alaska and Russia.

Studies of this model of events specialists of the U.S. National Center for Atmospheric Research, showed that the upper layer of permafrost could thaw by 2050 and 2100 glaciers will melt by 90 percent. Scientists believe that the melting permafrost will lead to a rise in water level in the Arctic Ocean and emissions into the atmosphere huge amounts of carbon dioxide contained in the soil, reported Kompyulenta.
