Poland chose the turn of the ocean

Poland's new president was elected mayor of Warsaw and one of the leaders of the conservative party Law and Justice, Lech Kaczynski.

After processing more than 90% of the ballots Kaczynski won 54.47% of the votes while his rival - the leader of the Liberal party, Civic Platform, Donald Tusk - 45.53%. The voter turnout was 50.62%, according to Radio Polonia. Interestingly, in Warsaw, 2 / 3 vote received Tusk and Kaczynski have voted for a village or small town.

Without waiting for the announcement of official results, Lech Kaczynski congratulated yet the incumbent president, Aleksander Kwasniewski.

Lech Kaczynski, along with twin brother Jaroslaw, who declined in favor of Lech on the post of prime minister, advocated close ties with the United States. They are known for harsh statements about Russia and a little less sharp - against Germany. The new president is opposed to enhancing European integration and gay marriage.

Official entry Lech Kaczynski's office will be held on December 23.
