Tomb with illustrations to the texts of Homer is found in Cyprus

Cyprus discovered an ancient tomb, painted with scenes from the works of Homer. Near the village of Cockley found the tomb of the age of 2,5 thousand years. Most likely, the tomb belonged to a soldier and was plundered in antiquity.

Head of the Cyprus Department of antiquity Pavlos Florentsos said that the tomb is unique in style and color scheme. Red, black and blue ink on a white background depict a series of scenes, some of which definitely shows Homer's "Odyssey" and "Iliad." Odysseus is one of the scenes with his friends running away from the cave of the Cyclops Polyphemus, hiding under a flock of sheep. And at the other figure - the battle between Greeks and Trojans. Archaeologists believe that this choice of subjects - a hint of high status who was buried here man and his military prowess.

Also, scientists have found here the same drawings, which are not connected with the Homeric poems. For example, the image of a man carrying a dead or injured, or a picture of a lion, fighting under the tree with the boar.
