Rarities XX-th century: the first edition of Hound of the Baskervilles "is worth 140 thousand dollars

The most expensive books XX-century magazine Book & Magazine Collector has called the first copies of "Ulysses" by James Joyce and "Hound of the Baskervilles" by Arthur Conan Doyle.

This became known after the study, which was carried out second-hand shops and auctions.

Circulation of the first edition of the novel "Ulysses" by Irish writer James Joyce, printed in Paris in 1922, amounted to just 1000 copies - 100 of them were signed by the writer.

In 2004 one of these volumes, with an autograph was sold at Sotheby's in New York for 288 thousand dollars. The price for a book without an autograph - from 175 thousand dollars, according to Pravda.ru.

In second place in the ranking of the most expensive print publications - "Hound of the Baskervilles" by Arthur Conan Doyle. The first edition of the novel appeared in 1902, the volume was equipped with the rare dust jacket. Booksellers exhibit this rarity on sale for 80,000 pounds (140,000 dollars), according to the channel "Culture".
