King of Bhutan wants democracy in the Himalayas

King of Bhutan, the state in the eastern Himalayas, has decided to hold the country's first democratic elections. In 2008, Bhutan will be the parliament.

Speaking to the nation, King Jigme Singye Wang Chug said that his son will inherit the crown. What powers will have a parliament is not informed.

Under the constitution, which appeared in the country in the year 2001, the head is the King of Bhutan. Legislative functions is also the National Assembly and the National Counsel, reported MIGnews.com.
