Agency NASA announced the acceleration of the rise in global sea level that could seriously affect the lives of hundreds of millions of earthlings.

For 50 years, sea levels rose by an average of 2 millimeters per year. But over the past 12 years the water has risen already three millimeters per year.

For tracking sea-level NASA has a satellite complex.

One of the satellites in detail measures the Earth's gravitational field, allowing to trace the movement of water on the surface and in the bowels of the earth.

Finally, another satellite monitors the status of the polar ice caps of Earth. With their melting scholars link the observed acceleration of sea level rise.

It is estimated that sea level rise of 1 meter seriously change the lives of more than 100 million people, according to MIGnews.com.ua
