One of London's famous galleries - the Tate, has decided to scare their visitors. One hundred and fifty works of masters, united by one illness - nightmares were exhibited at the exposition.

On the English Gothic novel have heard everything, but the picture in which the creator Bram Stoker's Dracula, Frankinshteyn and Mary Sheila found their inspiration, not familiar to many. Gothic - everything here is very serious, very sad and at the same time romantic.

Myron Martin, the curator of the gallery "Tate", commenting on the exhibition: "The paradox is that the interest in this art came at a time when Britain was considered a very calm and well-fed country. People no longer felt fear, as their ancestors did in the mid-century. Belief in the afterlife disappearing before our eyes. The Company does not believe in ghosts. "

William Blake and Henry Fuzelli - two names, which the British Goths say so far. Nightmares of these artists are not repelled. Quite the contrary. They were a mystery, mysticism and erotica. Subjects for their work looking at all - in Shakespeare's "Macbeth", in "Paradise Lost" Milton, in the horrors of the French Revolution and the industrial progress of the English Revolution. But sometimes the most terrible scenes were created from simple food poisoning.

"Nightmare" Fuzelli in Britain called an icon of Gothic painting. It won over the unknown: who is this woman, where did the little devil on her chest, and why all this mess spies stallion. Too many questions for which answers are not found until now.

"Gothic horror" in London's Tate has just begun. The exhibition will run until early May, according to NTV.
