Famous Croatian tennis player, Wimbledon winner Goran Ivanisevic in 2001 close to bankruptcy. In an interview with the weekly Globus, he said that all the funds that he invested in his country, did not bring revenue.

"Every project that I've invested, is a failure" - Ivanisevic admitted, adding that this was because of corruption in Croatia. According to him, over the past 7 years he has invested considerable money in a number of construction firms, but investments have not justified.

"I am not a supporter of any political party, no one lobbying and nobody else the pressure. I never gave a bribe. With this situation in Croatia is impossible to construct even a dog kennel," - said 34-year-old Ivanisevic in an interview with Globus .

Ivanisevic believes that to avoid bankruptcy he can help just one thing: participation in tennis tournaments among veterans.

His last game at the professional level, Goran Ivanisevic held at last year's Wimbledon. Then in the third round he lost to Australian Lleyton Hewitt, and before that on the main grass tournament of the season beat the Russians Mikhail Southern and Italian Filippo Volandri.

During the 16-year career, Croatian tennis player won 22 tournament singles titles, including Wimbledon (2001) and Moscow's Kremlin Cup (1996). The sum of prize money won in tournaments Ivanisevic ATP amounted to about $ 20 million, RIA Novosti news agency.
