According to published researcher Kate MakKerraher, in the interval from 1961 to 2001 the number of Anglicans in Canada declined from 1.36 million to 642,000 people, or 53%. MakKerraher argues that the Church of Canada annually loses an average of 13,000 worshipers. If this trend continues, the denomination "threatened with extinction by mid-century."

During the same period the number of believers in other major Protestant denominations - the United Church of Canada - decreased by 39% - from 1.04 million to 638,000 people. The Presbyterian congregation has lost 35% of the congregation, Baptist - 7%, and Lutheran - 4%. Data on the Catholic community MakKerraher no.

Data for 2001 show decline in the number of Jehovah's Witnesses by 8,1%, in the Mennonite at 7,9% and Pentecostal for 15, 3%.

The rapidly growing number of atheists, agnostics, humanists, secularists and those without any religious affiliation. Many Canadians consider themselves believers of one religion or another, but do not attend religious services.

Another reason for reducing the number of parishioners of Protestant churches - the overall decline in birth rate and natural population growth, according to Sedmitsa.Ru
