Putin and Nazarbayev unveiled a monument to Abai on Clean Ponds

On Tuesday in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev opened on Clean Ponds monument outstanding Kazakh philosopher and educator 19 th - early 20 th century Abai Kunanbayev.

During the meeting, Putin and Nazarbayev in Moscow in January 2005 it was decided to install the monument.

The monument is a gift from the Republic of Kazakhstan capital of Russia. The team of sculptors and architects under the guidance of designer T. Suleimenova and one of the founders of sketches of the Kazakh national currency - tenge Murat Aymekova worked on the monument. The monument cost some 161 million 800 thousand tenge (about 1.25 million dollars).

Opening of the monument to Alexander Pushkin in Astana and Almaty in the Year of Pushkin in Kazakhstan will be the response.

Abai was born Kunanbayev in 1845 in the Semipalatinsk district. Raised in the traditions of Arabic, Persian and Chaghatay poetry, deeply studying the legacy of Firdausi, Nizami, Sa'di, Hafiz, the historical record Abul-Ghazi and other representatives of Eastern philosophical thought, he began himself to create poems.

With Russian exiles, revolutionaries - the Democrats, the followers of Nicholas Chernyshevskogo Abay met in 1880. He not only studied the Russian language and literature, but also called for this fellow. The Kazakh language poet has translated poems by Pushkin and Lermontov Mickiewicz, Krylov's fables. Abay through Russian translations acquainted with the works of Goethe, Heine, Byron, translating excerpts of their works to the Kazakh language. Reports Interfax
